 Laser Engraving on boardsOur boards can be personalised by laser engraving - quite nice if the board is for a special occasion or is for a restaurant, hotel etc. The maximum size of board we can engrave is 60cm x 30cm (2 foot by 1 ft) and the engraved area should be no more than 25cm square centimetres, i.e. logos should be 5cm x 5cm square/diameter max. Names for anniversaries, weddings, websites etc. are quite straightforward (we suggest 16cm x 1.5cm max) but we can also imprint a logo, subject to a suitable black and white image. If you want to have two lines of engraving, you will need to add two set-up charges and two engraving charges to your order. Please e-mail your logo or text to enquiry@houseofcheese.co.uk after placing an order. This is a custom order so the board is non-returnable and we will take payment when we receive your order. Old Wine Barrel Oak Cheeseboard - Very Large Circular 55cmThese cheeseboards are made from recycling the tops (called heads) of aged oak wine barrels. Usually these platters carry either the French Tonnellerie's (cooper's) individual signature on them depicting which cooperage in France the barrel originated from or a company mark. On some boards the maker's mark is missing or feint, because of sanding during restoration (if you prefer a mark, leave a message at the checkout). Ideal as a chopping board permanently displayed on a kitchen counter or farmhouse table and stunning as a serving platter or cheese board. They can even be made into smart garden or conservatory tables by adding legs. Whilst they are not cheap, winemakers pay £400-500 for a good oak barrel and the days of these hand-made barrels are almost finished. Black Slate Cheeseboard 24x24cm approxUnwritten plain slate cheeseboard. You can use chalk on these boards to write names of cheeses etc. so they are suitable, not only for the home, but for restaurants and hotels too. These are untreated slate but if you want a slight sheen to the boards, apply a light rubbing of edible oil. This also seals the boards to some extent. Slate is a natural product with an uneven surface which may be ridged or veined, sometimes with fissures and the edges are deliberately chipped, rather than being perfectly smooth. These factors provide a pleasing rustic appearance which therefore complements a selection of artisan cheeses. Knife biscuits and cheeses not included. We often sell these in large quantities and we do deliver to most addresses for the single delivery charge which, because of the heavy weight, is subsidised.
