THIS IS AN OLD
WEBPAGE Click here for our new website http://www.houseofcheese.co.uk ![]() AN UPDATE FROM MONTY (MAY 2001) Hello - it's that dog from the cheese shop again! Time I put my thinking cap on and got my parents to type another article for me. As you will have realised, I survived my incarceration at the breeders during January and February - and my parents enjoyed their holiday. Actually, being at the breeders isn't too bad, as they understand Cavaliers and look after us boarders well. My only grouse is that cheese is in very short supply there! So it was good to be back at the shop. Unfortunately, just after we all came back here, the foot and mouth epidemic started. This means that all the local footpaths have been closed for months even though we haven't had any cases in Tetbury. What I want to know is, when are they going to be open again? No one seems to know. I have a friend who is a local councillor and he told my mum that he was talking to a farmer just outside Tetbury who told him that it was marvellous having the paths closed. So my parents aren't too optimistic. Not only that, the local Arboretum where I like to play is closed every evening at 5 instead of staying open till dusk. That means that we can never get there unless we go on a Sunday (and I must be on the lead all the time). Even then, my parents are often working on Sundays, so I amuse myself by running up and down all our stairs, which keeps my weight down! I've heard a lot on the news about supporting our farmers. And when you think of all the farm cheeses my parents sell, I think they're doing a pretty good job. The best of all is that if the public buys these cheeses from our shop, they not only support the farmers, they support a small independent business. I believe that's what humans call "killing two birds with one stone", which sounds a bit nasty. But my mum assures me it's a good thing! |

Any more fans out there? I've got a new friend who lives in Australia! He's called Chester, he's a Pomeranian, and he lives in Adelaide. The reason I got to know him is this. Across the street from our shop is a restaurant called the Coach and Horses, and the people who run it went out to Australia in April to visit their families there - and Chester lives with one of those families. His picture appears on this site (and if you wonder what he's doing, he's singing!) You can also see my Tetbury friend, Max, who is of unknown parentage but very handsome. His human dad runs the cycle shop here and his mum often takes me for walks when my own mum's too busy with the shop. I still get lots of e-mails from my friend Kinsey the spaniel in California. So if you're a Schnautzer in Switzerland, a Poodle in Pennsylvania, or a Dachshund in Dortmund, let me know! YOU TOO can have your picture on this site! That's all for now! And thanks to everyone for buying our cheese! Love Monty |
