MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM EVERYONE AT HOUSE
OF CHEESE (ESPECIALLY MONTY!)
Sorry about the sound effects (they take a little time to load) - Monty insisted!

WILL IT OR WON'T IT SNOW?
(We
took this picture in Arizona in April when we went to our son's
wedding!)
It's been the warmest
October on record with many mild, sunny days - just like a continuation of
summer - and now suddenly Christmas is nearly upon us! (Actually, for us
it started some time back in June when we received our first Christmas
product catalogues ...) Seriously, though, at the time of writing there
are only seven shopping weeks till Christmas, so it's time to think about
cheese and other good things for the festive season.
As far as Christmas in the shop is concerned we operate a little like the
best markets - lots of all the finest things available, though it's
sometimes difficult to say what they will be! One thing is certain, though
- this Christmas Stilton may be in short supply as one of the creameries
will not be producing any cheese for Christmas, and this is bound to
create a shortage throughout the trade. Our advice if you want large
quantities of Stilton, or small whole ones (the 2kg 'babies'), is to order
early - rationing may be introduced! (Didn't Tony Blair say we were at
war? ...)
From now until Christmas we
add a range of products to those which are normally available, so we
suggest you check our shop section for new and unusual items. In the shop
itself, the cheese lines often increase from 120 to 150, depending on how
many we can cram into the counter!
Thank you all for your custom over the past year and in order to avoid
disappointment in December PLEASE ORDER EARLY!! You can order for
Christmas any time from now but simply need to state that the goods
are not for despatch until, say, the week before Christmas. This is
helpful for us as it gives us an idea of what quantities to order,
especially as the internet site suddenly went into overdrive last
December!
Another point to remember - from mid-January to mid-February the internet
site will be temporarily closed while we have our annual break. Our real
shop in Tetbury will be staffed on Fridays and Saturdays only by
Catherine. If you would like to call in, please be patient with her as she
will be working solo!
It simply remains for us to wish you all A VERY HAPPY ...
"Hey! What about me, Monty? That's a fine
thing, forgetting the guard dog! If you wondered what the barking was when
you clicked on this page, that was my stand-in shouting a festive
greeting. As he dubs my real voice, I call him Dubya ... get it?! Anyway,
seasonal greetings to all my dog and human friends and remember I will be
spending a month at my breeders after Christmas so I won't be in Tetbury
if you call to see me. But I'll be back (as Arnie says) in February! If
you enjoy our cheese over Christmas, please remember that 'a cheese shop
is for life, not just for Christmas!'"
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY AND PEACEFUL NEW YEAR!
