NEW PRODUCTS FOR 2002 ...

Once again we have pulled a selection of new goodies out of the hat for your delectation!

Most are cheeses – a new producer has begun supplying us with cheese from their farm at Leonard Stanley, near Stroud, Gloucestershire. There is a plain version, Church Farm, which is like a moist, crumbly Cheshire cheese, and a deliciously tangy smoked version, called … Church Farm Smoked! We are also pleased to see that two previous favourites have been revived – Tiskey Meadow and Cornish (was Devon) Garland. When we first came into the cheese business, Devon Garland was made by Hilary Charnley, but was subsequently made near Cullompton, together with Tiskey Meadow, by Jeremy Frankpitt. Now the manufacture of both cheeses has been taken over by Lynher Valley Dairies in Cornwall, who also produce Cornish Yarg. Both cheeses are reasonably firm and of medium strength – Garland has a band of spring onions and herbs running through it, and Tiskey Meadow contains chopped sundried tomatoes. We also have a couple of new French goat cheeses – Chabichou from Poitou, which resembles a truncated cone, has a dense creamy texture and is quite strong, and Chèvre aux Épices, which is a soft creamy cheese with a wonderful lemony tang and is covered in dried herbs.A Spiced Pear Chutney is now available to complement our extensive range.
