CHRISTMAS 2002 & NEW YEAR ORDERS

PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY

Our internet business was very successful during the whole of 2002 but from experience it will ‘go through the roof’ at Christmas. We anticipate that this Christmas there is a possibility that we will not be able to deal with an unlimited number of orders. We also foresee problems with deliveries because of the way that Christmas falls this year (the only day on which goods can be delivered during Christmas week is Tuesday, Christmas Eve – 24^th December! - leaving us the previous day) and no delivery company will absolutely guarantee next day delivery!

We strongly recommend that you try to help us in the following ways:-

We can plan our buying of stock more easily if orders are placed early so that we have more idea of which items to buy.

If you wish to order a selection of cheeses, remember that small whole cheeses not only keep better but can be picked more quickly as time is saved on cutting, wrapping, and labelling pieces.

There will be stocks of items such as ‘baby’ Stiltons, cheddar truckles, and gifts throughout December and it is helpful if these can be sent out as early as possible in the month. For customers ordering all whole items, you can specify ‘send as soon as these cheeses have “use by” dates post-Christmas / post-New Year’
If you will not be at home when the delivery is scheduled please give us details of a neighbour who will be in, or why not have your order delivered to your office or workplace, or to a relative or friend?

We may, reluctantly, be forced to introduce some ‘rationing system’ in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Hopefully, this will not mean rationing the amount of cheese, but choice of product and choice of delivery time. At some point we may remove the facility to order cut cheeses from the ‘shop’ section of our internet site, leaving only individual items. We think it is only fair to allow those who order early to choose whether they would like their orders sent on 23^rd December or during the week before. After 8th December, orders to be despatched will be sent out on a date to be allocated at our discretion, although we will notify customers what this date will be.

DEADLINES

* SPECIFIC DATE ON WHICH GOODS WILL ARRIVE
ORDER BEFORE NOON ON 8^th DECEMBER,

* LAST ORDERS FOR PRE-CHRISTMAS DELIVERY
ORDER BEFORE NOON ON 15^th DECEMBER,

* LAST ORDERS FOR PRE-NEW YEAR DELIVERY
ORDER BEFORE NOON ON 27^th DECEMBER (THESE WILL ALL HAVE TO BE DESPATCHED MONDAY 30^th DECEMBER FOR NEXT DAY DELIVERY).

We are sorry that this all sounds complicated but can assure you that if we e-mail a despatch date we will make sure the order leaves us on that specified date.
